Who can be a learner?
Who can be a learner?
Our programs are open to anyone who is 16 years or older.
Depending on demand, we may have a waitlist at the time you reach out. In this case, it may take a little while to get you matched with a suitable tutor.
Depending on your goals, we may also need to wait for a tutor to become available who is able to help with your specific goals. If you are unsure about whether a program is for you, please reach out anytime!

What time are the sessions?

This is entirely dependent on your schedule and your tutor's schedule. We have pairs that meet during the daytime, evenings, and on weekends.

Most tutor/learner pairs make use of the public library space for their meetings, but some prefer coffee shops or other community centres. Tutors and learners always meet in a third-party location (i.e., do not meet in their respective homes).

When matching a tutor and a learner, we take multiple factors into account, including:
Schedule and availability
Personality
Location
Tutoring Interests (i.e., what material are you comfortable working with)
Your first meeting with your tutor will be with the Tutor Coordinator. During this meeting, you will get to know your tutor and talk about your learning goals.
If you have any preferences for your tutor, please let the coordinator know during your intake session!

During your first few sessions, learning goals are decided together with you, the tutor coordinator, and the tutor. We then come up with a plan to support you and provide some structure as you work towards those goals. If you are working with a resource book or on a skill that you does not help you meet your goals, we can change the plan anytime!

Do I need to use the computer?
No, you don't! Some tutors and learners like to use technology and computers in their lessons, but it's not necessary. If using computers is something you want to learn, just let the tutor coordinator know during your intake session and we can include this in your learning plan.

Yes! If you know someone who you think may benefit from our programs, please reach out or send them our information.
To get someone registered for our programs, they must attend the intake meeting themselves and complete our initial assessment.
All participants must be 16+
